Is the antifreeze used right? You may have overlooked these points

The use of antifreeze has always been apoint that many excavator masters often overlook. Some people even have manymisunderstandings about antifreeze. If the antifreeze is used improperly, itmay cause damage to some important components and cause heavy losses.

The full name of the antifreeze should be calledantifreeze coolant, which is the coolant with antifreeze function. At present, most of the antifreeze liquids are water-based antifreeze liquids usingethylene glycol, that is, the main components are ethylene glycol and water, and some corrosion inhibitors, defoamers, colorants, mildew inhibitors, andbuffers are added. And other additives. When ethylene glycol is mixed withwater, the freezing point will decrease. When the content of ethylene glycol is60%, the freezing point can be reduced to -48.3 °C at the lowest, which caneffectively prevent icing.

There are a few points to note about the useof antifreeze.

1, must choose the regular products ofwell-known brands

Many people think that antifreeze can beused, just buy some cheap and inferior products to the machine. Some inferiorproducts often cut corners in order to reduce costs, not only the performancewill be greatly reduced, but also damage the machine. Therefore, the choice ofantifreeze must not be cheap, choose a big brand of products.

2, choose the right freezing point

Freezing point is one of the most importantperformance parameters of antifreeze. Currently, the freezing point ofcommercially available antifreeze is -25 °C to -45 °C. The freezing point ofthe antifreeze should be about 10 °C lower than the lowest temperature of thearea where the excavator is located, so as to achieve a better antifreezeeffect.

3. Choose the right boiling point

Boiling point is another importantperformance parameter of antifreeze, which can effectively avoid the engine"opening". Since the boiling point of the liquid decreases withincreasing altitude, if the area where the excavator is located is at a higheraltitude, the antifreeze with a higher boiling point should be selected.

4, do not mix antifreeze

Do not mix here, not just different brands, but also different labels. Different types of antifreeze, even if the maincomponents are the same, the additive formula will be different, it is notsuitable to mix, in order to avoid chemical reaction, precipitation or bubblegeneration, the performance of antifreeze will be greatly reduced, and thusdamage the machine. If you need to replace different antifreezes, replace themall at once and clean the cooling system when you replace them.

5, antifreeze should be replaced regularly

After using the antifreeze for a long time, its performance will decrease, which will easily lead to its poor heatdissipation effect. Seriously, the water tank will be “opened”, and the damagecaused by the water tank to the engine is believed to be clear to every friend.of. It is very dangerous to open the water tank. In severe cases, the waterpipe bursts and the antifreeze splashes, which damages the engine. Generally, the replacement period of the antifreeze is 1-2 years.

6, antifreeze should be used all year round

Some excavator masters believe that sinceantifreeze is antifreeze, it can only be used when it is cold. In fact, this isnot right. As mentioned above, the role of antifreeze is not only antifreeze, but also has the effect of increasing boiling point and preventing corrosion.Antifreeze is not only used in winter, it should be used throughout the year,so that the excavator can be protected as much as possible.

7, add antifreeze should pay attention tosafety

Since the main component of antifreeze, ethylene glycol, is somewhat toxic, it is recommended to avoid direct contactwith the skin when adding antifreeze. However, ethylene glycol is not volatile, and the evaporation coefficient is much smaller than that of water, so there isgenerally no need to worry about the toxicity caused by the evaporation ofantifreeze.
